2016 AIA Pittsburgh Presidents holiday party

This is an annual party held by the AIA Pittsburgh chapter that happens at the end of the year. The night includes the ceremonial "passing of the wig" to introduce the Pittsburgh chapters new president, recognition of newly registered architects, a brief recap of all of the fun had in the previous year, and all the cookies you could dream of!

2016 AIA Pittsburgh Design Awards

Presented by AIA Pittsburgh, Design Pittsburgh is a celebration of architecture and design, and honors those who create it. A signature program of AIA Pittsburgh, Design Pittsburgh highlights outstanding architecture and design in the Pittsburgh region. Held each October, Design Pittsburgh features an architectural design exhibition, a juried Design Awards competition, public voting opportunity for the coveted People’s Choice Award, a gala for more than 400 members, affiliates, design enthusiasts, and guests.

2015 National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Convention

New Orleans, LA

The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) held its 43rd Annual International Conference & Exposition in October of 2015 in downtown New Orleans, Louisiana. The Conference theme this year is RISE: Social Justice by Design. While the design profession has seen a shift towards a more socially-conscious practice in recent years, NOMA has always been an organization centered around community engagement and social justice through the design process.

While working for the City of Houston's Design and Construction Division, I got the opportunity to meet a lot of influential people, including the Mayor of the city of Houston.

Young Architects Forum (YAF) Pittsburgh Hard Hat tour Series

In the interests of both networking and professional development, the YAF frequently organizes hard-hat tours of local projects, currently under construction. These tours are usually led by the architect and general contractor, and offer unique insights into the construction process for each project.

Canstruction 2013

Norfolk, Virginia

Canstruction® is a unique charity which hosts competitions, exhibitions and events showcasing colossal structures made entirely out of full cans of food. After the structures are built, the creations go on display to the public as a giant art exhibition. At the end of the event, all food is donated to local hunger relief organizations

 

 

2013 National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) Convention

2013 HBCU Architecture Conference

Every year Students and Faculty from Historicaly Black Colleges and Universites get together and hold a conference.  A different school hosts the event each year, and this past year it was held at UDC.  This conference allows not only fosters connections between students, but between schools as well, helping to stregnthen the presence of architecture at HBCU's
